Christopher Edwards

Christopher Edwards is a senior partner in our Employment, Labour & Public Law, Commercial Litigation, Insurance and Workplace Investigations Groups. A seasoned litigator, he has over 20 years of experience conducting trials and hearings before administrative tribunals and arbitrators. Christopher has appeared at all levels of Courts in Ontario including the Ontario Court of Appeal and federally at the Federal Court of Appeal. Christopher is currently one of three partners on the Management Committee for the firm.

Christopher has extensive experience providing strategic advice and representation to employers in all areas of labour relations, employment law and human rights, executive employment arrangements, union organizing campaigns and applications for certification. He represents employers in collective bargaining negotiations and is regularly retained by employers to act as the Chair of bargaining teams. He also acts for senior employees in employment and professional disciplinary matters. In his litigation practice he is regularly retained by insurance companies in complex matters, including environmental contamination claims and acts for companies in commercial litigation matters and has considerable experience in defamation claims.

Christopher leads the firm’s Workplace Investigation practice. In that capacity he is regularly retained to carry out complex investigations or to guide organizations in the investigation process. His experience in producing top quality reports has led to retainers from major Canadian car manufacturers, capital corporations, hospitals, broader public sector employers and large public utilities. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Workplace Investigations from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Christopher is a Past President of the Frontenac Law Association and was a member of the governing Council to the Ontario Bar Association. Christopher has also sat as the East Region Representative on the executive of the Federation of Ontario Law Associations. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in Labour and Employment Law since 2021.

When he is not engaged in proceedings, Christopher is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. Growing up in a musical family, the chronicles of his parent’s musical success were featured in a documentary titled “Stay Awhile”, which was aired on Netflix and other streaming services.
