University of Ottawa Heart Institute Telethon
Who knew that 10 people who spend most of our days sitting at a desk answering phones could get such a thrill out of sitting at a table answering phones. But we did! On March 3, 2012, 10 members of the Soloway Wright team volunteered to man the phones at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Telethon. And we had a ball doing it.
Maybe it was the great cause for which we were volunteering our time – the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Canada’s largest and foremost cardiovascular health centre, right here in our own town; or it could have been the excitement of being on tv and waving at the cameras; or hanging out with some of our favourite local celebrities; or perhaps connecting with thousands of people who took the time to call in, to donate and, most notably, to share their personal experiences with the Heart Institute and to express their gratitude for the doctors, the nurses, the staff and the treatment they received.
The Soloway Wright team was very proud to sit in our matching shirts (which garnered the attention of J.J. and Michael O’Byrne), to watch two of our partners, Dan Coderre and Ursula Melinz, present a $20,0000 cheque in the firm’s name, and to hear Lawrence Soloway speak with dedication and passion about his role as Chair of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
Whatever the reason, we all felt inspired and excited and grateful to be part of such a great day. We can’t wait to do it again next year.
